But did you know we (locals) don’t really get to enjoy the best quality because we keep it home to export the highest quality?

Luckily, in the last five years with the increase of new visitors from abroad, new coffee shops are opening their doors nationwide.

In this blog we are going to list the best coffee shops. Some of them are well-known and you might find them online.

However some of them are hidden coffee treasures.

    2. Bliss Cafe

In this new article we want to introduce you to Bliss cafe Medellin.  A six-month-old coffee shop located in Laureles.

This new but interesting small coffee shop is owned by a lovely couple from Quindio state.  After running a successful restaurant in Buenaventura they decided to come to Medellín to try their luck with a self-branded coffee.

However after researching the coffee market and meeting with coffee farmers, they understood the amount of hard-work involved in coffee production.  So they decided to change the business concept to a more social approach and then Bliss Cafe was born.

    La Pizarra Cafe
Bliss Cafe: A Fair-Trade Oriented Cafe

What was the social approach they wanted to have with this coffee shop?

They are showcasing many small but well-produced origin coffees in their shop but more important they are paying a fair price for the pounds of coffee they buy from them.

The coffee growers are the ones who are taking the most of this initiative, since they can get up to 50% more profits selling to La Pizarra Cafe than the National Coffee Federation.

    Good Atmosphere And Service

It is not only the passion and knowledge they have when it comes to preparing  an excellent cup of coffee that makes the place unique,  they also make sure your experience is a different one where you get to participate. Besides, look how original they are with the decor:

    The tables look like this:

In both, Bliss Cafe as well as in Cocolatte Cafe the waiters make the coffee right at your table so you can smell the coffee aroma before it gets mixed with water and you can learn how to brew the coffee at your place as well.

Throughout all this process, the waiter also explains the origin of the coffee, the different brewing methods available, the different notes you can find in Arabic type of coffee (that´s the type we grow in Colombia by the way) and basically everything you want to know about coffee you can ask them while they make it in front of you.

In this part of the city you won’t  find any skyscrapers, since in this area one or two story houses are more common. you will also notice exclusive lanes for bicycles making the area  have a more “european vibe” than  El Poblado.
