This was the highlight of our time in Medellin and a must do! Firstly, Andres was amazing… he accommodated us last minute (on Easter!) when I screwed up the dates. We went to a beautiful family run farm in the hills surrounding Medellin and it was truly as special experience. Antonio kindly showed us around his beautiful farm and his wife made us a special lunch of plantains either cheese and guava jam. We got to experience first hand all the hard work that goes into growing the coffee, then harvesting, drying, grinding and packaging. We tried different brewing methods whilst sitting in a beautiful open hut. Andres explained all things coffee to us with such enthusiasm and patience. We felt like we were with friends enjoying a peaceful Sunday! Such a delight! Thank you!

This is the best tour my wife and I have ever taken, period. The small family coffee farm, which is a surprisingly short ride from Medellin, is a tropical paradise, complete with beautiful fruit trees & flowers, as well as abundant butterflies and tropical birds. The family that runs the farm is generous and patient, as we experience various ways to prepare coffee, harvest it, and learn about the entire production process. We were also treated to a delicious local drink and snack. However, the best part of the tour was our guide, Sara. She is warm, talkative, generous, and incredibly knowledgeable on a wide variety of topics, from the history of the area and its neighborhoods to coffee, birds, and cacao. Daniel (my guide) explained every aspect of how coffee came to this area, we prepared coffee as pour over and siphon. Then we worked baby plants through their various stages. Next up was boots poncho and basket… and a hike up to go harvest. Then back down to sort the beans and prepare them for production. In a detailed way, I learned about different processes and fermentation. Lastly, we prepared Chrmex, and French Press coffees and had a snack. I bought some beans and a very caffeinated happy customer was driven back to the hotel.

We learnt about the entire life cycle of coffee. Visited a lovely plantation that’s family owned. Got to plant our own seeds, make our own coffee and learn and see the entire life cycle in action. My family and I wanted a coffee experience that was close to the city & this tour really delivered! Our tour guide, Andrés, made sure everything ran smoothly and on schedule. Our pickup was seamless and on time, we arrived promptly and got right into the coffee tastings – it was a great way to start the day. On this tour you visit their coffee farm, learn the history of coffee cultivation coming to Colombia and why it’s such a perfect location to grow. You also learn about (and get to sample!) the various brewing methods, and have a hands-on experience harvesting, preparing, and roasting the beans. As the only non-coffee drinker in our group, I can now attribute that to having over-processed beans or using the wrong ratio of coffee to water in the past. This tour was in depth and excellent. Daniel was an exceptional guide who went into great detail to explain the process of growing coffee in Colombia and all of the different kinds/processes. We had small group (4 people total) and he took us to a small coffee farm just on the outskirts of the city- we even picked coffee beans in the hills for a little while to get a sense of the farming. Andres is the absolute man! He picked us up with less than 24hrs notice and took us on an incredible tour through a beautiful coffee farm. The car ride there alone was gorgeous and his conversation and company were lovely. The tour overall was fantastic, as we had the opportunity to pick our own coffee beans and intimately learn about the whole coffee manufacturing process. Andres acted as a fantastic translator between us and the coffee farms owners, so language was not a barrier at all. This coffee tour is a must, it is such a neat experience to see a realistic coffee farm with how it functions in real life situations. I was very surprised by how the whole process of making coffee. I am usually not the biggest fan of coffee and don’t drink it too often. So even if your not a coffee person I recommend this tour it’s such a neat experience from picking coffee beans, to tasting all the different ways to make coffee and the views are amazing. Diego was an informative and entertaining guide as he walked us through the coffee production process. The farm itself was in a beautiful and scenic area, and the farm owners were very hospitable. After being separated, the beans undergo a fermentation process for over 24 hours, during which they lose the mucilage before moving on to the next stage.

The coffee beans need to be dry in order to be processed. This process is extremely important to ensure good quality.
To do this, there is usually a kind of green house called Marquesina that keeps and increases the heat inside drying the beans faster.

Spent four days with Andres with some friends and family in and around Medellin over Thanksgiving 2017. He’s hilarious, knowledgeable, super flexible and willing to go out of his way to make you have the travel experience you want. Cave, coffee plantations, nights out, sweaty salsa nights, felt like we really did the city well. We’d all become good friends by the end of the trip and will be staying in touch.

My family spent 5 days with Andres exploring the area around Medellin in November 2017. It was a spectacular trip with an awesome guide — Andres in knowledgeable, easy going and funny! He could quickly switch from explaining the history of the region, to having great banter about the local culture.
Throughout the week we toured around Medellin as well as Guatape, Concordia, and Jardin (which are all beautiful!). We wanted to play Tejas one night (a local Colombian sport), which Andres helped us arrange and he even played with us.
If you are looking to arrange any trips around in or around Medellin Andreas is definitely the guy to speak to.

My partner and I did a half day coffee tour with Andres. We communicated via their website and Andres took the time to recommend things to do in Medellin. Andres picked us up at 8AM from our apartment and we instantly felt safe and comfortable with him, we drove to the coffee farm which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! The family that owns the farm are beautiful and you can really feel their passion, they took us through the process from bean to cup with the help of Andres translating. After the tour my partner and I together with Andres went and got lunch, he is very easy to communicate, we all had a laugh, we also mentioned that we wanted to try traditional Colombian food and Andres took us to his recommend restaurant the food was incredible. We then did the fruit tasting at a local market which was AMAZING! Went there with my parents and another guy. The trip to the farm is close to Medellin, around one hour, with beautiful scenery. Got picked up at the house/apartment and dropped off as well.
The family who owned the farm was super friendly and gave us a very personal experience and Andres translated and explained the process with the equal enthusiasm as the owners.

We went on a coffee tour at Angelopolis, a small town country side of Medellin. The Family that owns the coffee farm welcomed us into their home and showed us how they process their oh so delicious coffee; from planting the seeds, maintaining the growing trees,hand picking the coffee beans, categorizing the beans from low quality to high quality beans, roasting process and packing process. Andres is the absolute man!
He picked us up with less than 24hrs notice and took us on an incredible tour through a beautiful coffee farm. The car ride there alone was gorgeous and his conversation and company were lovely. The tour overall was fantastic, as we had the opportunity to pick our own coffee beans and intimately learn about the whole coffee manufacturing process. Andres acted as a fantastic translator between us and the coffee farms owners, so language was not a barrier at all. Lastly, we were able to try several different types of coffee roasting and share some great conversation to learn more about the farmers “story”.
Andres is not only an incredible guide, but a great throughout the tour friend. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering it!

Coffee Farm – Half Day: I went with friends on the half day coffee tour to Angelópolis. Jose and Nena were extremely warm and inviting and we learned about the coffee process and tasted coffee brewed in a variety of ways. We picked coffee and saw the process to bring the beans into a final, packed product. We were impressed by the openness and generosity of the Jose and Nena. It was a wonderful day overall.
Guatape and Flower Farm – Full Day: I enjoyed the coffee farm tour so much I took my parents, who visited for a week, on a second tour with Andres. We visited a flower farm in Santa Elena and met another Colombian couple, Jose and Blanca, who have been in the flower business for generations. It was a beautiful farm and we learned how to put together a silleta and learned how selling flowers over the years turned into the enormous Medellin Flower Festival that occurs every August. Jose and Blanca were extremely warm and gracious and clearly enjoyed welcoming visitors to their farm.
On our way to Guatape, we stopped by a fruit stall and picked up some handmade cheese sold by a local vendor. Both were delicious. We headed to Guatape and climbed the famous rock… Everything you see is true, the views were stunning! We finished the tour with lunch and a stroll through town to learn about the highlights of the architecture and the significance of the colorful city. Overall, it was one of the highlights during my parent’s visit.

This is not just a trip to any old plantation. We were looked after extremely well. Part of a group of 5 but this was no problem- 2 cars were arranged. My daughter her team mates and coach had just completed competition at the Pacific Rim Trampoline Gymnastics champs. A fantastic 1 hour drive from the city winding up through the mountains and via genuine villages which was worth it on its own. Then a unique and genuine experience at the Farm. Taken through the whole process by Jose and Nena. Very welcoming, treated us like we were part of the family. Do not miss this..

My friends and I had the good fortune to take the half-day coffee plantation tour last weekend with Medellin Day Trips. Andres, our charismatic and informative guide, picked us up from our apartment and entertained us with history and stories of the region as we drove to the plantation in the hills. Upon arrival, we met the charming Jose and Nene, who run the plantation. They welcomed us into their home and we drank their coffee as we learned about the different filtration methods, before having a crack at picking coffee ourselves. Once picked, we got a fascinating run down of how the bean goes from the plant to the cup. It was a fantastic day, and a great way to end my Medellin trip. Five Stars for all involved!

I arranged the half day coffee tour by chat on the website (with Andres) and by e-mail (with Marta). Very easy and good communication. The coffee tour was probably the best tour I’ve taken. Andres is very knowledgeable and fun to talk with. His English is excellent for those who don’t speak Spanish. Jose and Nene who own the coffee farm are very nice and share the enthusiasm for growing and processing coffee. I really like tasting coffee made by 4 different methods. The drive to and from the coffee farm was very scenic. I also took the city tour that also included a graffiti tour that was also great. I can’t recommend Andres and his company enough.

This half day coffee farm tour was truly amazing. Andres and Antonio were absolutely great. They both did a great job at teaching each step of the coffee production, filtration, and distribution process. Because this was a smaller farm vs. larger plantation tour it was a much more authentic experience. Not to mention if you are short on time, this coffee tour is so close to Medellin its beyond worth it. Andres picks you up from your Medellin hotel and drops you off, so no need to worry about transportation. You can tell Antonio has so much passion for coffee and what he does, it was one of the best experiences we had in Medellin. We recommend this tour 100%!

This tour was in depth and excellent. Daniel was an exceptional guide who went into great detail to explain the process of growing coffee in Colombia and all of the different kinds/processes. We had small group (4 people total) and he took us to a small coffee farm just on the outskirts of the city- we even picked coffee beans in the hills for a little while to get a sense of the farming. His knowledge of both coffee and the history of Medellin was impressive and made for such a personal, insightful tour into the culture. This was the highlight of our entire trip to Colombia. Highly recommend!

We had an exceptional time with Esteban in our coffee tour. He was punctual with picking us up and a courteous and safe driver. He filled our 40 minute drive with stories, history of the city and gladly answered all of our questions. He had a great rapport with the owners of the coffee farm and did an exceptional job walking us through the process from growing a coffee bush to picking, washing and roasting. We highly recommend this activity.

My partner and I did a half day coffee tour with Andres. We communicated via their website and Andres took the time to recommend things to do in Medellin. Andres picked us up at 8AM from our apartment and we instantly felt safe and comfortable with him, we drove to the coffee farm which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! The family that owns the farm are beautiful and you can really feel their passion, they took us through the process from bean to cup with the help of Andres translating. After the tour my partner and I together with Andres went and got lunch, he is very easy to communicate, we all had a laugh, we also mentioned that we wanted to try traditional Colombian food and Andres took us to his recommend restaurant the food was incredible. We then did the fruit tasting at a local market which was AMAZING! Andres then dropped us back off home while the three of us were singing to new Spanish songs thanks to Andres ! 10/10 recommend YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Went there with my parents and another guy. The trip to the farm is close to Medellin, around one hour, with beautiful scenery. Got picked up at the house/apartment and dropped off as well.
The family who owned the farm was super friendly and gave us a very personal experience and Andres translated and explained the process with the equal enthusiasm as the owners.
They had delicious coffee and we got to try different ways of brewing it and also try how to pick our own beans.
It was an amazing experience and I would recommend it to everyone.

This was absolutely the best tour my 28-year old son and I had while in Medellín. The beauty of the view from the plantation run by Jose and his wife blew us away. They were also incredibly kind and genuinely happy and proud to show us (and let us participate in) the whole coffee process, end to end. They served us coffee on their balcony (prepared in different ways) while explaining their operation. The 1/2 day tour was perfect, allowing plenty of time to to enjoy the coffee plantation and still leave time for 2 other activities in the day. Andres was super helpful with translation and our short-notice arrangements, even setting us up with a driver for our eventual departure 3 days later. He was entertaining and provided interesting insight about local culture and history while driving us through 50 minutes of phenomenally beautiful countryside. Medellin Day Trips is very flexible too; they’ll combine tours to suit to your interests, and they have multi-tour discounts. Can’t wait to come back with my wife next time.

The Family that owns the coffee farm welcomed us into their home and showed us how they process their oh so delicious coffee; from planting the seeds, maintaining the growing trees,hand picking the coffee beans, categorizing the beans from low quality to high quality beans, roasting process and packing process.
